Children's Ministries
The Children’s Ministry of Decatur Baptist Church ministers to children from birth to 4th grade through Firefly Village, Beacon Blvd., Illumination Station, KidzBlitz, and AWANA. Our purpose is to connect children to God and others. We desire to help children know the ways of God and to help them develop a relationship with Him. We teach lessons that challenge children and give specific actions to take to engage God. We ensure a healthy and safe environment for the development of meaningful relationships with teachers and other children as they grow closer to God. We have a weekly worship experience for preschool and elementary children as well. As a balanced ministry, we strive to serve and love God by serving and loving children.
KidzBlitz
KidzBlitz is a night of missions, choir and fun. We come together every Wednesday night to teach children how to grow in the mission of God by exposing them to many missionaries that we support as a church. We also have choir for children every week to allow our children to lift their voices to the Lord through song. They prepare and present 3 musicals a year as a choir. KidzBlitz is held every Wednesday night from 6:15 PM to 7:30 PM.
Illumination Station
Illumination Station is DBC's Children's Church. Praise and worship time, Bible teaching, and characters acting out the virtue of the month fill this high-energy, fast-paced learning time. Every month a new biblical virtue is introduced and built upon. The children have fun as they interact with the characters, and they learn biblical truths as the virtue is reinforced through everything that is done. Illumination Station happens every Sunday morning from 10:00 AM to 11:30 AM.
Beacon Blvd.
Beacon Blvd. is our Sunday School for elementary students. On Beacon Blvd. children are taught by equipped teachers who engage their students in crafts, activities and Bible stories that teach the biblical virtue for the month. This interactive time builds biblical character, friendships with other children and lasting relationships with their teachers. Beacon Blvd. is held every Sunday morning morning from 8:30 AM to 9:45 AM.
Firefly Village - Sunday School
Firefly Village is Sunday school for our preschool aged children. During their time in Firefly Village, children have an opportunity to play in the DB Zone, a two story indoor playground that you have to see! They also have a preschool worship service where the children praise the Lord and are taught by interactive characters who teach the biblical virtue for the month. Firefly Village meets every Sunday morning from 8:30 AM to 11:30 AM.
AWANA
AWANA is for children ages 3 years old to 4th grade. For nearly 60 years, AWANA has been a leader in children’s ministry, helping churches worldwide teach children to know, love and serve Christ. Each week children memorize Bible verses at home and then come to church where they recite them to their AWANA leaders. During their AWANA time, they also engage in life-changing activities that teach them to know, love and follow Christ. Of course, we always have a lot of fun through games and getting to know one another. AWANA is held every Sunday night during the school year from 5:45 PM to 7:15 PM.
